ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

Public policy today sits at the intersection of governance, data, society, and leadership. This 5-day Summer School is designed to move beyond classroom learning and immerse students in applied policy thinking, enabling them to understand how ideas translate into real-world outcomes.

The programme blends conceptual grounding with hands-on engagement across sectors such as economy, social policy, urban governance, environment, and digital transformation.

The workshop is designed to introduce students from diverse academic backgrounds to the field of public policy, emphasizing an interdisciplinary approach to understanding governance challenges.

Anchored in the philosophy of:

Dr. Gurudas Nulkar

is Professor and Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics. He holds a Ph.D. in industrial sustainability and environmental management and was an Endeavour Fellow of the Government of Australia. His work focuses on sustainable development, ecological economics, environmental management, urban ecosystems, and alternative economic models. He has authored several books in English and Marathi, receiving prestigious awards including the Maharashtra Government’s C.D. Deshmukh Award in Economic Literature and the Dewang Mehta Award for Best Professor of Management. He has served on expert committees of the Government of Maharashtra, UN-ESCAP programmes, and environmental planning bodies, while also contributing extensively to research and policy on sustainability and ecological restoration.
