The two-year Master’s degree program is designed to provide much-needed practical exposure to understand all nuances of politics and government. MPG comprises 4 semesters. The first year is a campus-based comprising classroom sessions, field visits, and study tours. The second year is off-campus comprising different types of Internships and Attachments.


All the subjects are compulsory and have been designed to give an understanding of the different aspects of Politics and Government, that the students are expected to be aware of as Political Leaders.

MASTER’S PROGRAM IN POLITICAL LEADERSHIP & GOVERNMENT (MPG)

Rs. 3,00,000/- per student (payable in three installments).

  • First year of the program comprises on-campus learning which includes –

  • Classroom lectures by core and visiting faculty

  • Interactive Sessions by national level eminent leaders from Politics, Social sector, Bureaucracy, Judiciary, Media and Corporate

  • For hands on experience, Local field visits are organized to Gram Panchayat, Zilla Parishad, Municipal Corporation, State Assembly, Cooperatives and NGOs.

  • Study Tours related to Constituency management and Campaign & Elections management are conducted

  • A ten-day National Study Tour to Delhi is organized to give first hand exposure on Politics

The academic learning in the first year is focused on the following crucial aspects of Politics -

  • Political Management which deals with Verbal & Written communication, advertising & branding, social media management, public relations

  • Constituency Management which deals with Development and Management of a constituency may be of a MP, MLA, Corporator, Zilla Parishad member or member of a Gram Panchayat. It prepares them to effectively manage one’s constituency which is core to the development of the concerned region

  • Campaign & Elections management is an important focus area as it involves planning w.r.t preparation for an election may be Lok Sabha or State Assembly Elections or Municipal Corporation Council Elections, Zilla Parishad or Gram Panchayat Elections. This aspect also covers the crucial part of campaign planning utilizing Media, Research, Data mining, Data analysis, Psephology

  • Public Policy and International Relations are very important focus areas for study of this program

 

Second year of the program comprises off-campus Internships & Training -

  • Constituency based internship

  • Issue based internship

  • Internship with NGOs

  • Internships with Media and

  • Last & final Internship with offices of Political parties and/or with Political leaders which helps the students establish themselves firmly in the Political Sector

Eligibility Criteria

Any graduate with min. 50% aggregate from any recognized university as well as those appearing for their final year graduation examinations can apply.
 

Selection Procedure:

The selection process is conducted ONLINE for MPG, Batch 18, AY 2023-24 comprising a descriptive type written test followed by a personal interview.

Fee structure

The Program Fee comprises of two components COURSE FEE (mandatory) and OPTIONALS

 

Course Fee (mandatory): Total Course Fee is Rs. 3,00,000/- per student (payable in three installments).

First instalment of Rs. 1,00,000/- of the total course fee of Rs. 3,00,000/- is payable at the time of confirming admission.  The course fee includes - cost of field visits, local study tours, National Study Tour to Delhi and the course material (if any) offered by the institute.

*Scholarships up to 100% tuition fee for deserving meritorious students as per the MIT-WPU policy.

  • Compulsory internships up to 10-months with offices of Political Leaders & Political parties

  • 2-Week International Study Tour to UK and Europe (Optional): The tour comprises, visit to the British Parliament, Commonwealth Secretariat and, interaction with Members of Parliament. Participants interact at NATO office in Brussels, UNESCO office at Paris, visit The Hague International University, the Parliament of The Netherlands, ICCJ, ICJ and & international organizations of repute, like OPCW, WTO, UN office, ICRC, OHCHR etc.
